Attorney Lynne Torgerson just won a Harassment Restraining Order HRO proceeding out of the County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota. Ms. Torgerson represented a young entrepreneur, married, with children. The Petitioner was the sister in law of Ms. Torgerson’s client, Respondent. There has been a long standing feud between the parties. The Petitioner has previously had a OFP Order for Protection against her, for making Respondent. The allegations included assault via a fist fight, threats with a knife, social media posts, macing, stalking, false police reports. Surprisingly, the Petitioner alleged in her Petition that Respondent had chased her with a knife. During the proceeding, Petitioner testified that this never happened, in direct contradiction to what she had written in her own Petitioner. This caused serious credibility issues for Petitioner. Respondent had 3 witnesses, herself, her husband, and a witness to another mace incident. The hearing was therefore continued to a second day. The Petitioner did not appear at the second hearing date. However, because the case had been largely litigated, the Court entered a dismissal of the Petition on the merits, in favor of Ms. Torgerson’s client. Well done Ms. Torgerson!
