Domestic Assault Charge Success 120423

Police Man Arresting Young Man

Top Criminal Defense Attorney Lynne Torgerson obtained a successful outcome on a charge of domestic assault in Hennepin County.  Ms. Torgerson’s client was a young man charged with domestic assault out of the City of Minneapolis. It is sometimes worth mentioning that in most domestic assault incidents, there are no injuries.  Most involve some sort of pushing, usually restraining someone in self defense, or, a verbal argument.  It is arguable that such cases should not even be charged out.  Notwithstanding, the instant case was out of Hennepin County.  The City of Minneapolis took mercy on Ms. Torgerson’s client.  Ms. Torgerson obtained a stay of adjudication.  This means there was no conviction.  Significantly, this helps to protect a person’s record, and to avoid hindrance of employment opportunities in the future.  A stay of adjudication means that there is no conviction, and the charge does not go on the person’s record.  Further, if the defendant successfully completes probation, the charge is dismissed.  Also, in the future, with this type of resolution, the defendant would also be eligible to obtain an expungement.  Well done Ms. Torgerson!
